A founding director of Encycle Consulting, Jenny has been involved in environmental and waste management in the public and private sectors since 2000 and is recognised as a leader in the field. Her key skills include the development and implementation of practical waste and recycling systems for commercial buildings at the design and operational phases. She has a detailed knowledge of local government planning requirements and an extensive network of contacts in the waste management industry.

Principal Consultant
John has a chemical engineer and biotechnologist background with 10 years’ experience in industry and consultancy, specialising in process improvement, the circular economy, material flow assessments, plastics and resource-efficiency. Before joining Encycle, John was a senior consultant at Eunomia Research and Consulting, a leading UK and European environmental and sustainability research organisation, working on a range of circular economy and waste projects. John’s recent project experience includes leading a team to evaluate the environmental and financial benefit of scaling reusable packaging and leading a project for Zero Waste Scotland.
Kate Oliver BSc (hons) Sustainable Design & Environmental Management
Senior Consultant
With over ten years’ consultancy experience within the environmental, sustainability and waste sectors Kate has developed a wealth of experience, in particular within waste and resource management and the project management of sustainable building projects. Kate has also played key roles in the delivery of environmental management systems, carbon footprints, and energy performance rating projects, as well as regulatory and licensing experience.
Joanne has over fifteen years' experience in the waste, resource recovery and environmental education and behaviour change sectors. She has considerable knowledge of operational waste management and has implemented new food and garden organics (FOGO) collection services for several councils in Perth’s Eastern region. She has a passion for developing and implementing best practice resource recovery and waste management initiatives while facilitating behaviour change.
Minh is an enthusiastic, reliable and approachable Office Manager, who is a natural coordinator of people and projects. Minh has over 20 years of experience in Office Administration and uses these skills to coordinate Encycles many concurrent projects with professionalism and diligence. Minh is a crucial focal point for the Encycle team, providing professional coordination and support for our consultants and clients. Minh ensures that projects are kept on track and provides the valuable support in the background to ensure the multiple projects we are delivering at any one time, run smoothly and efficiently.
Our Practice Manager, Kirstie brings a wealth of project management experience in end to end delivery of sustainable building projects. Kirstie has close to 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, which includes project management, business acumen and architecture. With several years’ experience in Melbourne in with planning and construction administration, Kirstie brings planning, design and contractual understanding to the Encycle team. Kirstie plays a key role at Encycle Consulting with oversight of program management of multiple projects, timeline management and resource allocation.
Paul Starr Master of Sustainable Management, University of Sydney PhD, University of Queensland MA, University of Queensland BA (Hons), University of Wollongong
Consultant
Paul has been a researcher and practitioner in sustainable consumption and production since the late 1990’s. He has worked in higher education, the Queensland State Government, for the Australian Government, and in the wine industry. He was a key designer of Australia’s system for national waste data and reporting, as well as delivering the national hazardous waste reform program and working on multiple national waste policy taskforces over two decades. His broader sustainability experience includes working on environmental purchasing, environmental management systems, water efficiency, green buildings and sustainability reporting.
Ella Massey-Hicks BSc Environmental Science, Curtin University, 2025
Graduate Waste Consultant
Ella is a recent Environmental Science graduate with a keen interest in sustainable waste and resource management, including improving recycling outcomes, reducing food waste, and supporting our clients through the transition to a circular economy. Through Gained from her academic studies and practical fieldwork experience, Ella has developed a foundational understanding of environmental management and ecological systems including waste. She has experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to projects delivered within defined timeframes.
